As you know, Neuromics offers an expansive variety of grades and lines of Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). As a result, it's no surprise that we're frequently asked questions about the differences in our FBS products. We’d like to clarify the differences in our FBS products to make it easier for researchers to choose the right product.
We currently offer 4 different lines of regular FBS - Preferred, Premium, Standard, and Qualified. Our Preferred FBS offers a level of quality to grow most cell types while being available at the lowest price. We encourage all of our FBS customers to give it a shot!
Our Premium, Standard, and Qualified lines are available in both U.S. origin and Imported origin (USDA approved). The lines of FBS are differentiated by the endotoxin levels in each lot.
- Our Premium FBS endotoxin specification is ≤10 EU/mL.
- Our Standard FBS endotoxin specification is ≤30 EU/mL.
- Our Qualified FBS endotoxin specification is ‘As reported'
With fewer endotoxins, our Premium FBS can be used to culture all cell types, including the most sensitive cell lines. Our Standard FBS can still be relied upon to culture most cell lines and applications. Lastly, our Qualified FBS excels when used for general cell culturing applications.
In addition to endotoxin specifications, all of our FBS products are triple 0.1 μm filtered and free of virus and mycoplasma. They are also available heat-inactivated upon request.
