GPR49 is an orphaned member of the glycoprotein hormone receptor subfamily. It is thought to play an important role in growth and differentiation of embyronic tissue. It is highly expressed in the brain, spinal cord, placenta, and skeletal muscle. GPR49 is up-regulated in several cancers. It is also thought to be a target gene activated by Wnt-signaling. |
