Metalloproteinase 2 is a 72kDa enzyme involved in remodeling of the vasculature, invasion of tumors and degrading extracellular matrix proteins. Its C-terminal does not have a catalytic function and have anti-tumor activity. Cane be detected extracellularly, in cytoplasm and cell nuclei. MMP2 is present in many tumors including breast and prostate cancer. |
