Human Brain Microvascular Astroctyes were initiated by elutriation from dissociated normal human brain cortical tissues. HBAs are shipped at passage 1 proliferation in culture (available cryopreserved, catalog number: HMP202). Astrocyte-Growth medium containing 5% fetal bovine serum and growth supplement is recommended for culture. Cells have an average additional population doubling levels >15 when cultured. *cells are shipped at 90% confluence. However, confluency can be lost during shipping. Please allow for 1-4 days to reach 90% confluence again. As the cells are shipped live, extreme weather (including extreme cold or heat) can be a factor if we are able to ship or not.
