Recently our Premium Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS001) was featured in a publication from the Journal of Autophagy. This paper (linked here) looks into how stress at the molecular level can cause neurological changes that can lead to the development of Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer’s.
Using a new ELISA method, researchers found the enzyme label ubiquitin (Ub) phosphorylated at Ser65 (p-S65-Ub) in unstressed human primary cells. These cells were cultured using Neuromics’ FBS (FBS001). This enzyme label is used as a signal (by PINK1 and PRKN) to break down mitochondria that are not working properly (via the autophagy-lysosome pathway). This is important for research into Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease.
